Chem basketball extended its winning streak to a league high 7 games, as they handily beat MSE with a score of 42-20.
Chem came out firing from the gate as it started the game with a 14-2 run, headlined by their pressure defense forcing several turnovers from MSE. This led to plenty of fastbreak opportunities as MSE stayed on their heels. By putting their regular starting point guard, Patrick Polvorosa, at center, Chem emphasized speed and transition opportunities over MSEs lineup that featured plenty of bigs. MSE never recovered as the first half finished with a score of 22-8.
The team focused on getting a right mindset for the second half, alluding to blown leads in the previous games.
Chem’s second unit got plenty of run in this game as they focused on improving their play. MSE never was able to put together a serious charge to threaten the lead.
MSE captain Billy Hearn told Chem Captain Cullen Adam that “You guys killed it. We can’t break your defense. Congratulations.”
Chem looks to improve on its 7-0 start by finishing strong on the last two games of the first semester.
